Charisma Check
Sometimes, you’re You and sometimes, you’re Other People.
A comedy-noir absurd mystery by Charisma Check.
An inspector. An artist. A book full of unanswered questions. Whatever happens, this is going to be a mess. Smokey stylish noir meets surreal and silly sincerity in this murderous tale where logic unravels, performers make big accent choices, and nothing is quite what it seems.
From the sleep deprived minds of Charisma Check comes a genre-bending ride full of laughs, lies, and looking hot holding a cigarette. Expect tension. Expect chaos. Don’t expect a happy ending.
Age Suitability: 12+
Warnings: Reference to violence and strong language
*There will be a post-show Q&A after the performance on Tues 25th Nov

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Jessy Danner and Jae O’Connor began working together in 2017 on a production of Shakespeare’s “Antony & Cleopatra” and spent so much of that process making each other laugh that when the project wrapped, they discarded their repertory theatre pedigree and decided to get on this bootleg Mighty Boosh bullshit that they have been indulging in ever since. They borrow tricks and tools from theatre, stand up, stunt, live music, improvisation and TTRPG actual play and adhere to their solemn oath to “make very very silly things, and take them very seriously”. They’ve told stories about wild west outlaws and existential super villains, they’ve invited audiences into the sordid familial politics of dragons, oversaw the public killing of a unicorn. They’ve played the same argument across a dozen potential realities, handed over the reins to one guy in the audience to decide how a play should end and last year, they took 20 minutes to tell one dumb joke.
Having surrounded themselves with other talented and extremely funny people, including long time collaborators and physical theatre powerhouses Tom and Conor Duffy (No Relation), along with theatre and cabaret SuperProducer Robin De Jager, Murder is for Other People is already shaping up to be the biggest, most elaborate Charisma Check production yet.
