Spaces at Smock Alley Theatre
A living landmark in the heart of Dublin city.
Built on the site of Dublin’s first theatre in 1662, the prestigious Smock Alley has been at the centre of the city’s creative and civic life for over three centuries. Today it remains a working theatre, home to Dublin Municipal Theatre, while also welcoming weddings, corporate gatherings, launches and creative events of every kind.
Space for Your Private Event
From intimate talks to large-scale celebrations, Smock Alley’s historic rooms offer a unique setting for your event.
The Banquet Hall
With its original plasterwork ceiling, stained glass and oak floors, the Banquet Hall is perfect for receptions, conferences and weddings for up to 150 guests.
The Boys’ School
A striking setting with a backdrop of exposed masonry and a vaulted ceiling, The Boys’ School is a favourite of photographers for more intimate events, creative launches, conversations and readings. It can hold 75-80 guests.
The Main Space
One of Dublin’s most popular theatres, the Main Space sits on the footprint of the original 17th-century playhouse. Traces of the old stonework sit within a modern venue with raked seating for 177 and full backstage facilities. It is a self-contained and focussed space, for conferences, talks and presentations.
Full Building Hire:
For large-scale events, festivals and brand experiences, Smock Alley is available for full building hire. Combine our performance spaces, historic banquet hall and two bars, to create a distinctive, self-contained environment in the heart of Dublin.
