Donal O’Kelly’s new theatrical presentation, The Catalpalyst, is his creative re-exploration for the 150th anniversary of the 1876 Catalpa whaleship rescue of six Irish prisoners from Fremantle, 30 years after his much-travelled show Catalpa won a Fringe First award in Edinburgh.

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Actor and writer Donal O’Kelly toured Catalpa worldwide to high acclaim from 1996. His new show The Catalpalyst reframes the story of the 1876 rescue voyage in the light of world events then, since and current, with excerpts from the original. Donal O’Kelly’s solo plays include Hairy Jaysus (about Francis Sheehy Skeffington), Jimmy Joyced! (James Joyce in 1904), Bat the Father Rabbit the Son, and Fionnuala (Fringe First winner about Corrib gas venture Mayo).
