Shock Therapy

Laylah Beattie

A One Woman Show about getting blindsided by mental illness

After Laylah had spent her whole life defying those who told her her existence was wrong, she was shocked to develop severe depression at age 18. Ending up in a psychiatric hospital 4 times in a short space of time, she had to process the damage that growing up visibly queer had afflicted on her.

Join Laylah a decade later as she processes the shock, realises all she’s overcome and even tries to extract humour from the experience.

Shock Therapy is an intimate one-woman show about surviving mental illness against all odds.
