Nollaig na mBan with Irish Women in Harmony

First Fortnight Festival
Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Christmas is celebrated on January 6th. We are honoured to host Irish Women in Harmony for a very special performance which is closely connected to the mission of First Fortnight. We could not think of a more fitting way to celebrate this occasion.

A collective of some of Ireland’s most gifted female artists, Irish Women in Harmony come together through mutual artistic support and in their overarching mission – amplifying awareness for women and children in crisis situations.

Louise Nealon, author of ‘Snowflake’, will join us for this celebration. ‘Snowflake’ was named the One Dublin One Book choice for 2024 by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature. Louise will read from her book ‘Snowflake’, and discuss the experience of writing about mental health difficulties for different characters in the book.
Barbara Brennan is an inspirational ‘thought leader’ in the field of Mental Health. She has over 14 years experience in changing the culture of mental health at all levels of society. We are delighted Barbara will join us to share her story. The evening will be hosted by the fabulous and hilarious Sharon Mannion.

Recognising the significance of connection in maintaining mental wellbeing, we are excited to present a wonderful occasion for reconnecting with old friends and forging new connections during an evening of celebration. Nollaig na mBan with First Fortnight.

About the company:
First Fortnight is a charity that challenges mental health stigma through arts and cultural action.

First Fortnight hosts an annual mental health, arts and culture festival throughout January, throughout Ireland. The festival celebrates the arts as a powerful catalyst for sparking unscripted conversations around mental ill health and serves to challenge the stigma associated with mental ill-health. The festival aspires to make the beginning of each year synonymous with mental health awareness, actively challenging societal prejudices, and eradicating the pervasive stigma surrounding mental health.
