Cult Collective
A story of myth, legend and identity, Ní Liomsa an Teach Álainn Seo (This is Not My Beautiful House) is a one-person play in the Irish language. With English surtitles, the show revolves around an unnamed artist as they wait in their studio for their partner to come home so that they can reveal their secret, and finally come out as non-binary. As they wait, they begin to delve into their recent obsession with an old Irish legend about a bull that caused an all-island war many centuries before. When the bull comes alive, a battle of monologues begins, as they fiercely debate whether it is better to live as your true self and potentially be alone for it, or to exist only in other people’s expectations and remain a legend.
Ní Liomsa an Teach Álainn Seo is suitable for anyone interested in queer identity, Irish history, or theatre generally. This show has kindly been supported by the Galway Theatre Festival and Culture Ireland, and is presented by Cult Collective, an emerging company from Kilkenny, Ireland.

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Cult Collective is an artistic community committed to enhancing the artistic landscape of the south-east.
Cult Collective began as Cult Theatre 2016 as a mission to bring independent, experimental theatre to the people of Kilkenny. It began as a passion project between Anna Ní Dhúill and Éadaoin Kennedy who were both seventeen at the time and condemned to undertake the Leaving Cert. Realizing they’d much rather spend their time making art for free than studying, they re-wrote Reservoir Dogs for stage and put it on in the back of Cleere’s pub.
Since lockdown and the post-Covid, Cult had been struggling to get back on their feet, but in 2023 re-launched as Cult Collective, expanding their horizons about what the cultural landscape could look like in Kilkenny and the south-east.
