The John Godber Company
From John Godber, the multi-award-winning writer of ‘Bouncers’, comes a brand new smash-hit comedy.
Join twenty somethings Sally, Nat and Kyle in this hilarious comedy as they develop a love for, and the people involved with, Northern Soul. What started as a College project has grown into a passion, but the dance steps are exhausting.
This is Northern Soul for a new generation, but with rising costs, unemployment, and small town blues, has anything really changed? Is this 1976 or 2026? The pubs are closing, hospitality has gone, and strikes are everywhere; but when you’re out on the floor.

ABOUT THE COMPANY
The John Godber Company was established in 2011 by playwrights John Godber and Jane Thornton, who decided to create their own company in order to keep control of their work, and to create new pieces of theatre.
The John Godber Company, which has a base in East Yorkshire tours nationally twice a year; often producing tours out of Harrogate Theatre, Hull Truck Theatre, Theatre Royal Wakefield and many others. The company has also created more bespoke pieces and smaller runs for venues including: Shakespeare North Playhouse, HOME Manchester and the East Riding Theatre amongst others. The John Godber Company believes in putting the artist at the centre of the theatrical creative process.
