Ba dhuine de phríomhfhilí a linne í Caitlín Maude (1941 -1982), chomh maith le bheith ina hamhránaí sean-nóis, drámadóir, aisteoir, oideachasóir agus gníomhaí polaitiúil: Cearta Sibhialta na Gaeltachta; an feachtas in aghaidh an Chómhargaidh; bá le cimí na Ceise Fada. Chreid sí, dar le Pádraig Ó Snodaigh, go dtéann an ceann, na mothúcháin, an cholainn agus an ghnéasúlacht isteach i saothar ealaíne ar bith agus nach saothar iomlán é má tá gné díobh sin in easnamh air.

Caitlín Maude was one of Ireland’s most outstanding poets, as well as a dramatist, actor, sean-nós singer, educator and political activist. Publisher Pádraig Ó Snodaigh called her an ‘elemental force’, saying she believed that ‘all art is written or created using the head, the emotions, the body, and one’s sexuality. And if these four elements aren’t present, the work isn’t complete’.

IMRAM is proud to celebrate her work in a bi-lingual multi-media show that features her original poems read by Biddy Jenkinson, Síle Denvir and Emer Ní Neachtáin;  song versions of her work with Enda Reilly and Colm Ó Snodaigh; and traditional songs associated with Caitlín performed by Síle Denvir. The show features on-screen projections created by Margaret Lonergan, which will feature English versions of her poems by Caitlín Maude herself, Gabriel Fitzmaurice and Michael Hartnett. Curated by Cathal Póirtéir.

IMRAM in association with Poetry Ireland.
