Ill-Advised Theatre Company

This August, a new Irish one-man musical comedy takes Dublin by storm when Eamonn (from Menswear) comes to Smock Alley Theatre.

Fresh from their acclaimed production of Spring Awakening, Ill-Advised Theatre Company returns with actor/writer/fashionista Fionn Foley’s satirical tour-de-force, directed by Spirit of the Fringe Winner 2015, Claire O’Reilly.

Through an irreverent bricolage of theatre, music and comedy, Eamonn interrogates the essence of Irish identity and culture and offers a comprehensive introduction to the vicious and savage world of …retail.

Eamonn is the manager of a menswear store. He is young; a devoted father and husband; a diligent worker; a considerate neighbour; and a passionate karaoke enthusiast.

Like many young Irish men, Eamonn lives his life according to his own self-curated code of ethics. However, the principles he once swore by become contorted and unstable as questions of identity, morality and conscience start to plague his mind.

Eamonn (From Menswear) is a stylish, political and provocative fashion-infused musical dealing with the idea of a nation slowly ridding itself of the stratification of race, gender, sexuality and religion.

But it’s a comedy, like.
