The programme of composed and improvised music, includes Sonatas and Interludes by John Cage, world premieres of works written especially for this concert by composers Ronan Guilfoyle, Greg Caffrey, and Izumi Kimura, and improvisations inspired by and dedicated to oceans. Interweaving of unusual sounds, silences and colours.
Japanese born and Irish resident, Izumi Kimura is a highly acclaimed practitioner of contemporary piano music, improviser, and educator. Izumi has performed extensively throughout the country and abroad as a solo, orchestral and chamber musician. She has worked with many of the leading artists and ensembles from both disciplines of classical, jazz and improvised music.
