There once was a girl who wished to escape her ordinary life for something a little more extraordinary. Then one day the circus came to town, and suddenly an ordinary life didn’t seem so quite so bad after all…

Cirque des Rêves is a story of magic, mystery, lost souls and blind but oddly accurate fortune tellers that will capture the imaginations of both the young and the young at heart.

The Circus is coming to town but beware… for once it finds you, it might never let you go.

 Praise for Cirque des Rêves:

“Drawing on a vast array of material from the Victorian-era of penny dreadfuls to more recent elements like American Horror Story: Freak Show, the production is a confident and interesting look at the supernatural story. Combining strong aesthetics, astute direction, and strong performances, Cirque Des Rêves is worth seeing“- 4 stars, David Doyle, The Reviews Hub.

“Steeped in the Gothic glee of a Steampunk fever dream, Cirque Des Rêves is a R. L. Stine novel come to life that revels in its self awareness and absurdity.” C.K. MacNamara, No More Workhorse.

“The poetic language, elaborated set, wonderful authentic costumes and beautifully fleshed out characters make Cirque des Rêves, so magnificent and enjoyable. No doubt, this play will enchant both the older and the younger.”– Yana Patracova, Unforgettable Lines.

“There is so much to be enthralled about, as they weave a magical, wonderful spell in a solid play that is both funny and spooky.” – Alan Foran, The Red Curtain Review.

Sickle Moon are a Dublin-based theatre and film production company, led by Artistic Director Jeda de Brí , actor/writer Finbarr Doyle and designer Aoife Fealy. They most recently produced “Trinkets” , a short play that was commissioned for the Carrickmacross Arts Festival. This year they also produced “Pitcher” for the Collaborations Festival at Smock Alley. In 2013, Sickle Moon were Company In Residence at Theatre Upstairs, Eden Quay. They  produced three original plays – “Slippers”, “Tactics” and “Spectres”, which played to packed houses and glowing reviews. “Tactics” is currently used as a teaching tool for script-writing at the Irish Writers’ Centre. Other work for theatre includes “Conversation with a Cupboard man” from the short story by Ian McEwan, and “Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde”, an original adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic.

Sickle Moon have come up with a play that justifies the existence of small theatres.“- Michael Moffat, The Irish Mail on Sunday

Tactics is very well written indeed: it is a thoroughly unpleasant, heartfelt comment on what the authors clearly see as the contemptible nature of all party politics in this country… Directed with fire and discipline by Jeda de Brí, [the cast] are good both emotionally and technically.“- Emer O’Kelly, The Sunday Independent

Illustrated Productions is a theatre collective dedicated to developing exciting and dynamic theatre that aims to capture the imagination of their audience. Born out of a passion for creating visual art and theatre, the collective aims to focus on original writing which is complimented and enhanced by a visually compelling aesthetic. The company hopes to continually challenge and push their own creative boundaries while maintaining a high standard of work. After producing two work in progress plays for Collaborations’ Festival 2014 (Smock Alley Theatre) the collective went on to produce two full scale productions entitled “Tales from Briar Hall” (2014) and “Hollow Ground” (2015).

McCann’s play is a powerful piece of work, absolutely credible and masterfully constructed” – for “Hollow Ground”, Emer O’Kelly, Sunday Independent

A piece out of the ordinary and well worth seeing for its otherness.” – for “Tales from Briar Hall”, Nomoreworkhorse.

Written by and featuring the talented all-rounder Katie McCann, is a play that has a long pedigree in the world of creepy story telling…” – for “Tales from Briar Hall”, Michael Moffat, The Irish Mail on Sunday
